About the show: A Drag Queen & a Stripper walk into a bar…. And produce a show where their careers are not punch down jokes. A new take on comedy & art imitates life burlesque. With a diverse & inclusive cast, with the opening night on March 11th, 2022, Werq: The Occupational Comedy Show is to be a refresh on the vaudeville classic arts. “We have been punchlines by comedians for so long, but we had our own unique stories to share we think the audience will be surprised they find hilariously relatable” Said Lady Mekaella DeMure, co producer & performer of Werq: The Occupational Comedy Show, “Like any good drag queen know how to WerQ, but I’ll also be saying all the things you wished you could say about your boss, commute & that one weird coworker Colin & the gossip in HR, Pam! ” Says local legendary performance artist, Izzy A’mon, co-producer, performer & co-emcee of the production. Both Mekaella & Izzy are excited to do a covid safety applicable show that brings two arts industries back together again like vaudeville's golden age. “I’m really grateful to Izzy for the opportunity for us to try her venture into comedy with a combined show, where comics open for burlesque & such, reliving history with a contemporary twist, with standup; BUT where the punchline isn’t the image of one of us in a trunk of a car as told by a cis/white male comedian” said Lady Mekaella, who also will have rewards for audiences who wear masks & volunteer their vaccine card at the door. “A show designed to talk about around the water cooler, like 10/10 would recommend” winked Izzy A’mon
